Bebird N3 Pro packs tech for improved ear-cleaning experience

On the outside, ears can seem pretty cute. The inside? It can get more gross in there than many of us would care to know. Earwax serves the purpose of protecting against germs, dust, and water entering the ear canal. However, if excess wax builds up and hardens, it can block the ear and be difficult to remove. Improving on its predecessor, the Bebird N3 Pro ear cleaning tweezers offers a safe and effective alternative to cotton swabs and metal rods/picks.

Generally, it’s not a good idea to stick things into our ears. Not only can objects damage the sensitive ear drum, but they (including cotton swabs) can actually push ear wax deeper into the canal. So how does one go about cleaning ears if it’s not like blindly fishing around with some small stick? Apparently, you use a tool equipped with a camera, robotic arm technology, LED light, and a mobile app for greater accuracy.

The Bebird N3 Pro is designed for a safer, simpler way to clean the inside of ears. This pen-sized device features soft silica gel-tipped robotic arms that open and close to extract ear wax. Embedded at the base of the arms is a 3.7-mm, 10 MP high-definition camera that transmits video up to 20 fps. When paired with a device running the Bebird mobile app (Android and iOS), users can watch in real-time as they guide the tweezers to clean the inside of ear canals. A WiFi chip helps ensure a fast, seamless connection between the N3 Pro and smartphone for viewing.

To ensure safety, the Bebird N3 Pro utilizes a 6-axis smart gyroscope. The gyroscope detects 360 degrees of movement and helps prevent inserting the tweezers too far into the ear. Additionally, intelligent temperature control maintains the otoscope at 77°F (25°C) to prevent burn injuries in the ear. That same temperature control keeps the handle at a comfortable 85°F (29°C). These tweezers are designed to be safe for all, ages three years old and up.

The N3 Pro comes with a dozen individual silicone tips, which cap the tweezers when closed. These tips function like little “ear scoops,” essentially turning the tweezers into an advanced cleaning rod. After listening to user feedback from the Bebird X17 cleaning rod, the company redesigned the N3 Pro’s silicone tips. As a result, these new ones are more secure (as to not fall off in the ear) and store within the charging base. The Bebird N3 Pro operates for up to 90 minutes, requiring only 60 minutes to fully charge.

The Bebird N3 Pro ear cleaning tweezers are currently funding on Indiegogo. More than 800 backers have helped raise over US$68 thousand dollars, and the campaign still has another three weeks of funding left to go. Super early bird pledges for the Bebird N3 Pro tweezers start at $79, saving 43% off the planned retail price. Each N3 Pro comes with silicone tips, charging base, micro-lens cover, alcohol swabs, and a mini brush. If everything goes according to schedule, backers can expect shipments to start April 2021.
