Portable LaserPecker 2 engraves faster and harder
Personalization often goes hand-in-hand with creativity. So, if engraving happens to be your thing, one latest option may fill your project queue for months! The original LaserPecker dazzled us through its success as a portable, orange-sized laser engraver. Faster and more powerful, the second-generation LaserPecker 2 may just be the versatile engraving option for beginners and professionals alike.
Conventional laser engravers tend to be fixed pieces of equipment, given their sheer size and bulk. Sure, the scope and level of power and precision may be unmatched, but that tends to come at higher cost with far less mobility. Plus, there is usually only one way to engrave with these standard engravers; on a flat surface. However, the LaserPecker2 offers greater freedom of creativity by breaking free of such constraints.
Roughly the size and weight of the average brick (at 4.8 lb or 2.2 kg), the LaserPecker 2 houses a 5 W, 450 nm NICHIA diode laser. Designs can be made up to 100 mm by 100 mm (3.93 in by 3.93 in) in size on a variety of materials. For example, you can engrave such things as (but not limited to) wood, fabric, ceramic, plastic, metal, and even food/fruit. Not only that, but the LaserPecker 2 can cut through many of these materials (no thicker than 5 mm).
Ten times faster than the original, the LaserPecker 2 operates at speeds upwards of 600 mm/s. Users can choose from 1000 px, 1300 px, and 2000 px resolutions, complete with a preview mode to assist with positioning. Additionally, Bluetooth 5.0 allows the LaserPecker 2 to upload designs nearly 30 times faster versus the original. Other features include automatic focusing and height adjustment for improved accuracy and performance. Most importantly, this machine knows when to automatically stop, thanks to vibration, tilt, and temperature sensors.
A major draw to this laser engraving system is its portable versatility. Remove the unit from its stand to engrave on any surface, horizontal or otherwise. The LaserPecker 2 can also go cordless for up to 200 minutes, with its specialized 20k mAh power bank. An auxiliary boost attachment offers the ability to engrave cylindrical objects. This same attachment helps create designs up 2000 mm (6.5 ft) in length on flat surfaces. And, all of this fits in a backpack with room to spare.
The LaserPecker 2 fast handheld laser engraver and cutter is currently funding on Kickstarter. Over 2900 backers have helped raise over HK$19 million (approximately US$2.4 million) dollars, and the project still has a month of funding left to go. Early bird pledges for the LaserPecker 2 (with supporting track, protective shield, and goggles included) start at US$599, saving approximately 30 percent off the planned retail price. Higher tier pledges include the power bank and auxiliary attachment. If everything goes according to schedule, backers can expect shipments of the LaserPecker 2 to start in March 2021.
