Thrilling 2022 Quest Calendar adds daily RPG adventuring

It happens to all of us at one point or another. The daily grind seemingly transforms weeks into some kind of extended “Blursday.” Welcome to adulthood, right? But, there are ways to get out of that rut! Instead of listlessly staring into space a few minutes each morning, you can engage in a fantasy role playing game (RPG). The 2022 Quest Calendar delivers a complete, story-driven adventure over the course of 365 days, page by page.

RPGs come in different forms (e.g. tabletop, live action, video games) and genres. Many are complex and involving, which can discourage interest. The 2022 Quest Calendar takes a different approach, through its solo play that requires a mere 1-3 minutes a day (with weekends combined). Three rules–read, roll, resolve–are simple to follow. As the story unfolds, players can expect their characters to take on quests, fight monsters, and, of course, collect plenty of loot.

  • A video of a hand tearing off calendar pages in succession.
  • A set of blue dice rolled onto a white surface.
  • The back side of a page from the 2021 Quest Calendar.
  • The front side of a page from the 2021 Quest Calendar.
  • A character sheet showing hero stats and abilities.

Each 2022 Quest Calendar comes with a set of mini dice to play with. Choose your hero and begin the game by reading. Tearing off each previous day’s page uncovers the next mystery or obstacle to overcome. Most of the time, you can expect a roll of the dice to resolve the decisions made. As the story progresses, your hero will level up, gain new abilities, and find better items and equipment. Character sheets help keep track of all the progress.

The double-sided pages feature full-color artwork to illustrate the adventure. Although the story is meant for one hero, people can play together as a group and/or with multiple heroes in parallel. Those who want to dive into the fantasy even further can opt for additional accessories: hero book, dice scroll, folding dice tray/tower, and metal ‘dragon scale’ dice. If you plan on gifting the 2022 Quest Calendar to someone, you can include a custom special day (e.g. anniversary, birthday) as a surprise for all to celebrate.

The 2022 Quest Calendar is currently funding on Kickstarter. More than 1000 backers have helped raise over US$44 thousand dollars in about a day. The campaign still has 28 days of funding left to go. Early bird pledges start at $20, which includes one 2022 Quest Calendar, dice, and print-and-play PDF. Extra accessories are offered at higher pledge tiers. The highest tier includes the ‘special day’ reward. If everything goes according to schedule, backers can expect shipments to start October 2021.
